The Incredible Aircraft Door Seal came about from a problem with one of the planes that had just been finished with all new factory seals. During a taxi test in light rain, water dripped on my wife’s head and she couldn’t understand why this could happen with all new seals. The reason was that the existing quarter-round seal installation did not create a total seal at the door. She asked what I planned to do about it; the answer was obvious: “Design a door seal that works!”

The new door seal for General Aviation Aircraft is a result of space age technology developed for NASA. It is ideal for airplanes because it conforms to the sealing surfaces, forming a perfect sealing bond between the door and the fuselage.

A Typical Aircraft Door Seal Installation

The hybrid rubber compound sealing material is unique because it compresses under pressure from the door(s). When the door stops applying pressure against the seal, the seal no longer compresses and actually makes an impression of the surface pressing against it, similar to a mold. When this occurs, the hybrid rubber compound sets, forming a perfect seal.

The seal is 3/8” thick by 7/16” wide and was designed to fit in the channels around the door openings. It comes with a special 60-pound pressure sealing adhesive which makes the installation quick and clean. The seal has the ability to compress from 3/8” to as small as 1/32” thick without losing its sealing ability.

This specific application allows a perfect seal which helps eliminate the wind noise around the door, and keeps the aircraft dry on the inside, therefore eliminating mold and internal airframe corrosion.

The hybrid compound meets Military Specifications (Mil Spec) as well as FAA requirements for a seal used on aircraft. Our new seal is now certified for use on Piper models PA-28, PA-32 and PA-34 and all Cessna single engine including models 336 & 337 aircraft by the FAA, requiring only a log book entry. The seal is FAA-PMA APPROVED, Affordable, and Made in the USA.

The best thing about this amazing new product? It's a door seal that works!
